A FEW THOUGHTS ABOUT THE WEATHER {CLIMATE}

The planet earth is about 4.5 billion years old. This has been determined by people who know about these things. They have come to this conclusion by methods like Radiometric Dating of rocks and meteorites. [I do not have any idea what this means.} I think we can be pretty sure we live on a very old planet.
A lot can change in over 4 billion years. One of the things that probably changed is the weather or climate whichever you prefer.
To my knowledge there has not been any human beings that have lived anywhere near a thousand years let alone a billion. Most humans as we all know have much shorter lives!
Most people seem to feel that the decade they grew up in had more snow than we do today. If a person grew up in the 1950's they will say there was a lot more snow than we have today. Those that grew up in the 1980's, 90's or any other decade will say the same thing. This is probably because of perception not reality. When you are young and not that tall you remember playing in the snow with your little friends. Everything is new and exciting. You do not feel that way as the decades pass.
In the mid 1970's we bought a house. I remember a few very cold and snowy winters during those years. A number of states were experiencing very cold winters. Time magazine actually ran a cover story with the headline are we entering a new "ice age"?
A few years went by and the new "ice age" was forgotten and we were now seeing articles about global warming. Some believe this was being caused by fossil fuel, natural gas Etc. which would have long term effects on the temperature. On a planet that is well over 4 billion years old term "long term" may be a little vague.
Time marched on and some years later some people were not so sure about global warming and believe or not the term "global cooling " began being tossed around.
A little more time passed and those in the know did not seem so sure if things were getting warmer or cooler. Whoever these people were, they decided to cover their bases and proclaimed what was happening was "climate change".
I am looking outside this morning. It is a cold, gray and snowy morning in early December in the Detroit Suburbs. It is not unlike many other December mornings that I have seen my entire life. By the way the official first day of winter this year is December 21,2025. It looks like everything is on schedule.
For those that feel the climate is changing and it is because of problems being caused by man maybe there is something reasonable that can be done. I do not really know. Maybe the weather runs in cycles or has different patterns. Maybe it varies a little from year to years. Yet, each year brings winter, spring, summer and fall.
For what it is worth here is what I think. The weather is mainly controlled by Mother Nature. Each generation is on the earth for a very short time
This is my simple advice. Try to enjoy each day, each month and each season and make the best of things regardless of the weather. One more important thing always be very careful when you are driving in bad weather!
