The Detroit Tigers finished the week yesterday Sunday June 7, 2026
with a win over the Seattle Mariners 5 to 4. The game was won in the ninth inning on a hit by star rookie Kevin McGonigle. The Tigers now have a record of 27 wins against 39 losses. They are 9 1/2 games out of first place in the Central division and have a 409 winning per centage. They still have a lot of work to do to get back in the race but it was very good week and a lot of time left in the regular season.
The team is off today Monday June 8. The Minnesota Twins will be in town for games on Tuesday and Wednesday night and a day game on Thursday. The Tigers will then go to Cleveland for three games against the Guardians. The Tigers have about 42 games left to play before the All-Star game being played on July 14 in Philadelphia. If the Tigers could win 27 of those 42 games by the mid-point of the season, there winning per-centage would be 500 and be in a position to make a run for a play-off spot during the second half of the season.
This last week saw some of the hitter's starting to hit again. The Tigers scored 37 runs last week. This was a big improvement over the previous week. The team is looking forward to the return of Tarek Skubal very soon. We also may also see Justin Verlander and Casey Mize back on the mound. The nice weather we have had in Detroit recently may also have been a help.
Looking a little further down the road the Tigers will be playing the Houston Astros, The Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees later this month. Hopefully a lot of good baseball coming up this month.
The Tiger players seemed to have perked up with the recent wins and the return of some of their injured players.
Some of my loyal readers have suggested that my last story about the Tigers may have helped turn the team around. Thanks for the compliment and I always look forward to hearing from you!
Let's keep watching and give them our support. This may still turn out to be a good season!
I hope the Tigers and all my readers have a good week!
