Sunday May 16,1971 was a very warm and sunny day. Why do I remember what the weather was like on that specific day? It was the day we were married. We got married in the afternoon at a popular hotel in downtown Detroit. This Saturday May 16,2026 will be fifty-five years since that very warm Sunday afternoon.

Being married fifty-five years is a pretty big milestone. A lot of people do not reach that milestone for a number of reasons. First, you have to be lucky and live long enough to be married fifty-five years. There are a number of other reasons why many people do not stay married that long. You can draw your own conclusions as to why a lot of marriages do not last that many years.

I think it's a big accomplishment. I believe we are proud of having reached this day. A lot of things happen in fifty-five years. Many things change. They change in your own life. They change in the lives of your family and friends. They change in the world we live.

A lot of good things happened. But life also brought its challenges. Life always does. That's the way it works. They had to be faced and dealt with. Alice and I always faced whatever came our way together. We learned, grew and worked together. We were always very supportive of each other and continue to be that way till this very day.

We feel good about having reached fifty-five years together. I think it's a very good sign that this marriage is going to work out!

Congratulations to Alice and myself.

Happy anniversary to both of us.

Hoping for more good years!
