The Detroit Tigers are in Florida a sign that winter is starting to come to an end and spring is around the corner. It looks like the Tigers are serious about making a run for the World Series with the recent additions to the pitching staff. This should be an exciting season for Tiger fans.

The Tigers announced recently that there is going to be some changes regarding the television broadcasts this season. From what I heard the team has made a deal with the MLB network to televise the games. In addition, if I understand what I am hearing the games will be on cable and also streamed. Further information is needed to know the number on your T.V. where you can find the games. I am not sure if I have everything correct but that is the point it sounds confusing. I am not sure that every fan even knows what streaming means.

While we are talking about how the games will be delivered this season here is another comment about the broadcast of the games the past few seasons. Let me say I like the broadcasters and commentator's covering the games, I do not like the way they have been rotating announcers throughout the season the past few years. Fans like to hear the same friendly voice and see the same smiling face each time they turn the television on to watch the baseball game. The baseball season is long. The season begins in the spring and continues into the fall.

Many Detroit Tiger fans watch a lot of games each year. They look forward to relaxing, going to the same channel and seeing and hearing the same people covering their favorite team. It is like watching the game with an old friend most evenings. Remember how many years they listened to Ernie Harwell on the radio. They enjoyed how he covered the games and felt comfortable that he was always sitting behind the mike. I don't know if this is true but I once heard that Ernie only missed one game during his entire career.

Here is my suggestion. I know it may not be as simple as it sounds but do your best to make sure your fans know where to find the games on television and radio. I think this might be easier try to keep the broadcasters in the same place as best as possible throughout the season. The same play by play guys in the same spot in the same chair. The same color commentators and play by play guys in the booth for each game and the same people doing the pre-game and post-game shows. I think baseball fans like it that way!

Good luck Tigers your fans are looking forward to an exciting season!
